We have completed another Wood Flooring Sanding project in Brixham. This one required more technical knowledge and our expert skills as we had to carry out repairs to 5 holes, we removed and replaced damaged boards and staggered the joints to make the floor look more “natural”.

We were able to remove some boards from a bedroom to provide a more blended “look n feel” and replaced them with new pine floorboards. We cut the boards to the appropriate length and securely fitted them into place with clasp nails, all nails were punched 2-3mm below the surface.

Once all the repairs were carried out we started to sand the floor to remove the dirt layer and flattened the boards as the majority of them were crowned.

We attended to the hallway which had been sanded previously (by someone else) and attended to the multiple stop marks and scratches – the floor required a lot of heavy sanding to reach a satisfactory quality.

Due to the type of floor base, we applied a filler and allowed it to dry. We then continued with a final sand to remove any fine sanding marks and scratches. All edges were blended in with our small Rotex machine.

Replacement of wooden floorboards in Briham, Devon

Finally we vacuumed the floor…before applying our finish!

We applied our primer to the floor and allowed the product dry overnight.

The next day we vacuumed the floor before applying our first coat of the lacquer, then left it to dry for 3 hours.

After 3 hours the floor was “denibbed” to remove any dust that had settled during drying.

We applied our second coat of lacquer at a good coverage rate to give a uniform sheen over the whole floor.
