It was a short trip, just around the corner from our office in Torquay to carry out the restoration to another hard wood lounge floor.

Our Wood Floor Specialists arrived on site on time. Once they had their overshoes on and had prepared the specialist equipment the preparation work began.

Restoration Preparation:

Firstly they removed the carpet gripper strips from the edges and any staples that had been used to fix the underlay to timber wood floor. Then they punched in any nails and any metal fixings to ensure that they were below the surface.

Wood Floor Sanding:

They started sanding to level the wooden floor using the progressive grades of sanding grits. Additional work was required to fill the joints and again punch any fixings below the surface. The sanding process uses various levels of finishing from 100 to 120 grit fine sandpaper to get the best surface for the finishing oils.

Finishing:

To finish they used 2 coats of basecoat and 1 of top coat. These were applied allowing sufficient drying time between each coat. Finally they carried out a further sandpaper finish using 120 grit fine sandpaper. Following a vacuum the final top coat was applied.

This restored wooden floor looks lovely again!
